Old Love

These rocking chairs are worn with age
These knitting needles go clickety-clack
A constant distraction from broken ears
Faded eyes and aching back
The album on the mantelpiece
Fits my hand with well-worn ease
A tribute to the olden days
And filled with all my memories
There we stand, you and i
The sea salt spray licks our faces
Back when we were young and free
And travelled to all the far-off places
Now we’re trapped by age and sickness
Bent in bodies frail and thin
While our minds wander down weary paths
Of thoughts we’d never usually think
But though our minds and bodies fade
Like dew in the morning’s eye
Our hearts will always stay the same
And our love will never die.
