The Panther
Under the trees
dark & dull
there’s a frightening panther. I run from him.
carefully, looking tree by tree often I see him quite sneaky where the trees
are specially
thick & tall,
& the long vines
tangle down like a tigers tale
& the ground
shady from the from the jungle trees…
He hasn’t got much to eat,
but he moves
silently as though he
is stalking his prey,
then he pounces
like he’s diving into water,
where small dears eat
the grass.
He sometimes goes
wondering I suppose
a panther is a sneaky
thing to be.
I wonder if he’s hunting ME!?
