In the days gone by, with truths still untold,
proud men stood beneath their banner bold. Our sovereign taxed us with unforgiving hand,
after declaring no imposition on this great land.
Neither Hotham, nor no one could foresee,
the brewing storm, over an unjust tariff fee. From far abroad, men forgot their past, to birth a nation, be free of class.
As one, hands moulded a banner of stars,
our weapons meagre, just a few iron bars. Together as one they fought for the truth, many were frozen in everlasting youth.
Smoke drifted over the non-awakened town, Crook men, tore their proud banner down.
And now, we pause, and remember the cost, for a truth that was won where a battle was lost.
