We Was Right

I was just a humble digger,
Standing beside me mate,
Today I died in honour,
I knew it was me fate.
It happened so quick for me,
Over the top, we was running.
Shots fired, I couldn't see,
The blood in me ears was drumming.
I died a noble death,
On that cold Turkish night.
And drawing me last breath,
I knew that "We was right!"
