The Shower of bullets
Made damper than rain;
It hurt to get back up again
-[The thunder of bombs
-[Burst drums by the pair
-[In the open, it rent the air
The hail of dirt clods
Left colder than frost
All around, men cowering and lost
-[The roar of the jet engines
-[Louder, than a hurricane
-[Drowned us all out, screaming in vain
The howl of the dying
More haunting than wind
Drove us mad before the rest did
-[The empty silence,
-[Like lakes in a drought
-[Draws the pain, like venom, out
The warmth of Tomorrow's sun
So unlike the napalm blaze
Death found me in a happy daze
