Excellence Award in the 'Write As Rain 2014' competition
One large abrasive path carries the whole world through
The meaning of life lies here too
We think of you always in the lands that we roam
The salt comes rushing as if to my face to say welcome home
To live of your resources you do thrive
We will succeed to keep you alive
The wind swirls round my head
As I touch the hot sand
When my body lies here dead
Shall my soul fly through this land
As I see the thirsty sand fall apart
The sun falls slowly it becomes darkā¦
I see the light shine through the trees
As my feet storm loudly through the colourful leaves
On this very Island I proudly stand
As I see Australia, A special land
