Beautiful eyes,
Sparkling like dark stars,
Gazing up to the blue skies,
Beyond these prison bars.

The sadness trapped within
These wide and innocent orbs
As the creature thinks of freedom,
Away from the chains and cords

But now,
Confined and condemned,
Forced to scrape and bow
Tortured and teased for the amusement of a crowd

The delicate ears flapping,
Straining for a call of home,
Though all she can hear is clapping,
And it chills her to the bone.
