Mum’s bright blue buggy hobbled down the road
The bald tyres outlining every piece of gravel,
The streets were lined with townhouses and old trees
Swarmed with green leaves and kissed in the middle,
The warm summer sun pried through the gaps of the canopy
Tired leaves fell from the trees, gliding down to the road
I roll down the car window and stick my head out,
I feel the small sunrays kissing my freckles,
My strawberry blonde hair being caressed by the wind.
I reach out my hand grasping for the elegant leaves,
And that’s when I saw it, right then I saw it,
I felt the warmth of the sun from my fingertips to my heart,
I felt wisdom and serenity overcome me,
I looked at the gaps between my fingers and realised,
It’s okay to have cracks; it’s how the light gets in.
