Excellence Award in the 'Write As Rain 2014' competition
I looked around and nothing was behind me,
at last I thought my plan had worked and I was free.
The sun poked out of the dark grey clouds,
it was peacful and quiet with no big crowds.
It wasn't nice for long as it started to rain,
big puddles were building up as there wasn't a drain.
My clothes were getting soaked and I didn't have a spare change,
and there wasn't a house or any bit of shelter within range.
The rain was soon gone and there was nothing to fear,
suddenly I had a thought and the answer was clear.
I had done the dumbest thing ever, I ran away from home,
I was in the middle of nowhere and I was all alone.
