The water sparkled in the dim sunlight
as the pitter patter of the rain caused
ripple upon ripple.
The salt water entered: my nose, my open eyes,
for who could have foretold such an abrupt demise?
Adults sung and the children played,
because there is no room for everyone.
The sand was soft; my arms felt free,
like the birds flying above, aimlessly.
The grays of the clouds circled my vision yet
the strong waves crashed around me, unaffected by this
danger. The cool water was now reaching my waist,
while my body adapted. A common notion.
For no one would see my tears,
in this great ocean.
