Prowling through the silent woods
Shadows looming all around
Dry, dead leaves cracking underfoot
A maze of trees confound

Pawing at the dirt and stone
Searching for some hints
These mystifying woods unknown
Leaving no paw prints

Lifting its head into the air
It gives an all-mighty howl
Held with such precision and care
Answered by the hoot of an owl

It drops its head and wanders on
Fierce fire green eyes burn the night
Stars disappear, sunshine anon
Before long, welcomed by morning light
