Darkness wrapped himself around every soul,
But we would not yield to him, we would not extol.
We couldn't find any light, so we made our own,
Proceeded to claim a little blue treasure and call it home.
New meanings were created; we’d praise men in the skies.
We sat devising our schemes; peered at the world through wicked eyes.
Thirsty, we would dominate.
Hungry, we would calculate –
The odds of defeating nature.
The odds of defeating each other.
We answered some questions; slowly men we praised faded away.
We walk with more certainty now, with less need to pray.
We feel so enlightened, yet we don’t.
Answers elude us still, will we ever find them?
Perhaps we won’t.
