The glass shards shatter
Any pretences of perfection fall to the floor
The squeezing in my chest tightens
I can’t take it anymore
I won’t be its puppet
I don’t care what it will say
The expectations of society
Will not have its way
The perfect mask upon my face
Has disappeared for ever
And the ties to the mirror in front of me
I will once and for all, sever
Though day has dawned and night has fallen
The pressure, I defied
For the mirrored perfection is no more
Except its shards, buried inside
