Excellence Award in the 'The Text Generation 2014' competition
Staring at bleacher paper parchment in vain,
Its innocence corrupted with fine lines of blue.
Your glass eyes begin to ooze salty water,
As the page develops a stormy grey hue.
Your mind shunts to a foreign scene,
Where the clock never strikes a half hour or quarter,
And the berries are plentiful and perpetually ripe,
And the revitalised grass remains evermore green.
Sitting idle numbs sensations in your feet,
The pressure and blood builds up in your legs,
Making your ankles throb with unendurable pain,
And compels you to do a jingle in your seat.
Untamed imagination jumps, into words beyond the dock,
But slips out of the sea with words not the same,
Your frayed paper edges reaching for your hands to write,
Trying to fly away but stuck with writers block.
