It's 1915 and war has been declared
Young men sign up, their duty to serve
Departing unprepared
Uncertain of their return, mothers say goodbye to sons
In uniform, tin hats and guns
Bound for Gallipoli's Shores
With very little training they left our shores to fight
They even lied about their age
Uncertain of their plight
Blindly they row towards the beaches, all was silent, all was still
'Till the deafening sound of screeches from the artillery upon the hill
Crashed down on Gallipoli's Shores
Heroically they advance up the muddy sand
hundreds of comrades fall proudly
as they take their final stand
They fought with honour and with valour
regardless of the cost
Lest we forget the mates we lost
On Gallipoli's Shores
