Trails of white drag across the sky,
Billowing and bloating, amassing an army.
Now coloured grey they shimmer and shake,
The light of the world reflected in their womb.
At last with a growl they let go their load,
Splashes of refreshment descend on my face.
Enhancing the smells around me,
The leaves bitter and sweet, sharp and fresh.
Raindrops dance forming natures drum solo,
Rhythmic and undulating, varying tempo and dynamics.
Starting slow and steady then moving on,
Faster and faster as the wind blows strong.
After far too soon the clouds part and reveal a patchwork of light,
The last drops of life run down my hair, my face, my shoulders
The promise of colour beckons,
Full of new beginnings.
