the soft quiet purr makes me feel relaxed as I gently lift my soft head
The gentle nuzzle smoothly rubs against my neck
The big pupils sharpen to a squint
I feel the soft fluff of fur settle back down onto my lap
Every breath I take, I take it slowly so my body does not get nipped
The tiny layer of smooth teeth, they glisten in the gently ray of sunlight
I take a deep breath
And then release the air to float into the room
I feel as calm as when I'm asleep
I am happy that I can enjoy this moment at last
I think of the pet store where we got her from
I think about how we did not choose the cat
The cat chose us
I bend my knees and pick her up
I put her on the floor
I turn around and say goodbye Lottie, you're such a beautiful cat.
