Excellence Award in the 'The Write Track 2015' competition
The wind rushes through golden dry grasses,
And stirs the waves atop the frothy seas,
A riot of colour that swiftly passes,
Never batting an eyelid in the breeze.
Mane like a ripple of luminous gold,
Legs, like pistons, pounding through yielding sand,
He bears a rider who is none too old
And swims her from the water to the land.
She who rides with a steady, balanced grace,
And he who loves to be her everything,
They fit together in a warm embrace
Of love and compassion, a friendship ring.
The girl and horse, together forever,
Tying a knot that no-one can sever.
