I sold my imagination
For your opinion of my work
And let someone else decide
The measure of my worth
I learnt to whisper softly
So I wouldn't be too loud
I sold my individuality
So I would fit in with the crowd
I sold my little girls innocence
For what society had in mind
I sold it for a mask of makeup
For me to hide behind
I don't know how to tell you
It isn't right you see
When you tell me to be different
But won't let me be me
