What we come across in light,
can often change throughout the night.
Shadows start crawling past our ear,
laughing at our darkest fear.
Even when we're all tucked in
a creature emerges with a grin.
It twists its face round into view,
and without knowing if it's scared too,
we close both eyes and clench our teeth,
yet its weapon's kept inside its sheath.
For this creature under our bed,
is actually hiding in our head.
Suggested by a shadow passing by,
that runs away when dawn is nigh.
