Pain

Pain is lost sleep, caring for your child.
Pain is a shield, trying to protect his innocent mind.
Pain is time, watching your son grow older.
Pain is letting go, for he must experience what you have.

Pain is aging, you watch your once youthful mother fade.
Pain is sickness; she is much too frail to survive.
Pain is waiting, for an unpleasant surprise.
Pain is parting, sitting beside her death bed.
Pain is death, ending a life so another may be born.
