Excellence Award in the 'The Write Track 2015' competition
I grew from a seedling,
My roots have claimed my mark,
My leaves provide shelter,
Branching out from my bark,
I stand with nature's pride,
I'm a symbol of hope and giving,
So I ask you this question
Why can't I keep on living?
I'm the lungs of the Earth,
A home for our Mother's creatures,
I give shade and fruit and beauty,
I give help to whomever reaches,
So as you raise your axe,
To cut me for your scheming,
Just know She is awakening...
From blood and tears of screaming
