Lead: hard, black and cold, dragged along paper, crisp, fresh and white
Imagining pictures, places and people.
Outlining ideas, shapes, borders with a brush, fine, smooth and brittle
Flying along canvas, clean and rough colouring an otherwise blank world.

A pastel, soft, delicate, powdery sliding along the surface effortlessly
Pale, bright, calming and subdued, a smudge of personality.
Water-colour, pencil to paint flows along the paper smoothly, fluently
Solid lines, single water droplets, making the hard soft, the soft softer.

Finally a pen, black as night
Glides along the paper, looping, coiling and twisting.
Calligraphy, cursive, printed words
The artist’s seal, stamp, a sign to all, the art is yours.
