2015
1st in the 'The Write Track 2015' competition
Kids these days aren't in to good deeds,
They're all six foot deep in Instagram feeds.
This is a generation where, parents and teachers go unheard,
Because we're separating the popular, from the nerds.
The teenagers are all hidden away on campus
Instead of kicking a ball, they're updating a status.
And it's funny because they know that they're failing a class,
But re-blogging on Tumblr is more important than being smart.
So you see it's become a primary claim
To keep posting your way to high school fame.
Being consumed in the thought of 'Just one more peek.'
We've become infatuated with the latest tweets,
It's a sad state of affairs to shame an entire nation,
But there's little common sense in my lonely generation
And I know that my time could be better spent
But I find myself falling into life's consuming trend.
