Last night I dreamt about two girls,
Best friends and oh so close.
They were called Fair and Midnight for
Their hair was so in shade.
But one day Midnight began to weaken
And no one understood -
Only the girls, deep down inside
Knew what it stood for them.
As Midnight's health continued to exhaust her,
The girls realised that time had sealed
Midnight's deal with death.
So though they'd known the truth
For a while when the time came,
The girls, they were so pained, when they shared the final embrace.
And so the dream ended, and I awoke with tears plain,
For I knew, for sure, that it had been Midnight's final embrace.
