Rhinoceros joust with blunted spears
Sharks swim in a spiced bowl
As ice melts there’s more space for the whales
As man sets sail there’s less whales for the space.
Birds fly until iron flies faster
Fish ascend on a wave of mercury
Tigers adorn the ironic living room
Nature’s pest treads on the cockroach.
Trees cough and breathe their last
A canopy of smog cannot hide the truth
The circle of life oiled and greased
A story told with turned backs and sweaty palms.
Zoo’s turned museums as they hoard what life was
Cages now glass, bearing our sins
Pray for heaven for here stands hell
And loosely claim that ‘life goes on’
