I met you, when we were young and carefree
I stayed with you, during the first steps to “big school”
I longed after you, when boys were no longer gross
I smiled with you, when school went from small to really big
I kissed you, when we finally got together
I laughed with you, when we left our high school behind
I cried with you, when adulthood got too much
I held hands with you, as we walked down the aisle
I jumped alongside you, after the positive pregnancy test
I whispered to you, as you held the miniature me
I took photos with you, as she took her first steps
I clapped with you, as she graduated kindy
I became distant towards you, as the doctors became stern with me
I stalled with you, as you demanded to know what was wrong
I lay with you, surrounded by bare walls and beeping sounds
I finally left you, and her, much sooner than I should have
