Gallipoli-The Men That Made Us Who We Are Today

The soldiers walking away from families forever
The cheering heard from miles around
No one knowing this could be the last time they hear it
Not knowing what to expect
Red blood stains the brown, soggy dirt
Ears ringing with unforgotten noises
Bullets and IEDs wounding our soldiers
The wounded being carried away; vulnerable
Dead bodies littered everywhere
No time for men to mourn the loss of life
Some never made it ashore
They died freeing our country
Making us a democracy
Not many returned home
Safe to families, in their arms
These men died fighting for us
We are lucky to be who we are today
Lest We Forget
