Excellence Award in the 'The Write Track 2015' competition
Memories held by the roots of trees,
A road so sad even the sky cries,
A lake built by man that refuses to hold the skies tears and a house hidden
within a nightmarish grove.
Fifty-five sails sway to the north above power lines,
A boy waves and a girl replies,
Only but a fence separates them.
Who knew the lake could be so dry but the sky so gloomy and grey,
When laughs and fun turn to cries and sorrow,
Pleads for one not to go.
A cat will always land on her feet for he showed her there was no such thing as defeat.
The regret is a thing of the past,
Longing for that one last wave,
Unsure of the unseen waterfall streaming from her face.
