Ripples. Not a foot from where thy laid,
eye to eye. Unable to tear you from thy gaze
she pleads and begs, until you bade
—Go away! And leave you to thy mortal laze.
The cries of your untouched lover do fade,
swept from you, unseen. For, once made
lost, unburdened, in your impenetrable maze
there is no awaking from thy terrible daze!
Oh! Daffodil in the breeze,
the night, as kind as day,
and yet your heart begins to seize,
for there is nothing you can say,
yet call from your imprisoned state, Please!
So too Echo replies—Please!...Please...please.
And in her embrace you are carried away
to where the children do frolic and play.
