The Normandy Landings

3rd in the 'Calling All Poets 2007' competition

Forward they charge very gallantly,
Churning up the muddy sea and air;
Seeing Spitfires in the mist
The enemy troops get a scare.
One by one the enemies fall back,
Bullets in the mud go thwack, thwack, thwack!
Clouds of smoke fill the air;
The guns on the destroyers begin to flare.
