2015
Finalist in the 'Beyond Words 2015' competition
The tall buildings litter each street
As the lights flash past my eyes
The noise from the outside grew louder and louder
The city that never sleeps.
The canal snakes towards the sea
Beyond the bridges lie the old secrets
Hidden among the cracked time worn homes
The city of water
The scent of baked bread fills my nose
As the two lovers walk down the street
The old stone bridges lay witness to these sights
The city of lights
The dark green foliage of the eucalyptus trees
Gave shade to the barren brown earth
The midnight sky is written with stardust
This is where I will die.
