Excellence Award in the 'Beyond Words 2015' competition
The leaves rustled roughly in the wind
This Horrible beauty can’t be a sin
The grey sky covers ceiling to floor
The rhythmic patter crashes on the floor
The thunderous monster I can’t even see
My heart is pounding inside of me
The cool liquid oozes down my back
Any warmth is what it lacks
My warm breathe makes a puff of smoke
The tree’s bony fingers give me a poke
I pull my knees up to my chest
I struggle to refrain my urge to get some rest
