3rd in the 'Beyond Words 2015' competition
Out there shadows cry
Out there the wind screeches with fury
Out there the ground rattles and shakes
The thorns dance, the blood spills.
Out there teeth crunch
Out there screams pierce the air
Out there everything is lost
My mind will break and death will creep.
I do not want to go...
Still I open the door. I take a deep breath
My heart pounds, my lungs fill with thick air
The last breath from home.
I say goodbye to my precious world
And leave through the heavy brass door.
