Give it a go, try something new
Even if poetry isn't usually for you.
Find yourself some paper and pencil or pen
That's all you need for the process to begin.
Write about princesses and knights on noble steeds
And old cows and young boys who find magical seeds.
Write about adventures deep down in the ocean
Or naughty little children who cause a commotion.
Write about family and relationships and friends
About new beginnings, or how everything ends.
Write about aliens in alternate dimensions
Maybe even school and how you're always getting detentions.
The time has come, the power is yours
It's up to you whether you open the doors.
Experiment with rhythm, rhyme and flow
Try something new… give it a go.
