The leaves move in the wind, rustle, rustle
A baby bird under its mother's wing, whistle, whistle
The breaking twigs under my foot, crunch, crunch
Reminds me of my childhood, in the in the rental house
So very quiet, you could hear a mouse
But I loved to play in the woods, get me out? No one could
I would run and hide, in my little playground, complete with a slide
I would stay until dusk, my mother would be calling, come out I must
I never will forget that time of day, where deep in the woods I would play
Follow the twisted trees, pass the dog who was full of fleas
Hop over the little lake, it really was a piece of cake
Crawling through the old tree trunk, looking like I was on a hunt
Then I would come to my special place, and a smile grows on my face
I still go there when times are tough, when my memories are too rough
Even if just in my mind l shall go,
To my secret little hidey hole
