All was quiet by the riverbank.
Suddenly I gave a yank.
It tugged and jerked and the lines went berserk.
I danced to the left and swung to the right.
It pulled me forward, and I knew I was in for the fight.
My heart beat faster and faster as I showed who is master.
The reel whistled and screeched
But that fish just refused to be beached.
High on adrenaline, I grappled with the line.
The sucker flew high in the air, and I knew it was mine.
People nearby erupted with joy and rapture
In the hope of more capture.
I held it with pride
As I caught my first fish by high tide.
