As dawn broke over the world at last,
The events of yesterday have long been past.
The magpies arise, singing joy to the world,
As the wonderful events of the day unfurl.
In the field, where the grown ups search,
The young little babies sit in trees of birch.
Waiting with little patience for their morning meal,
Such hunger do the young ones feel.
At last the morning search is done,
So once they eat, they can have some fun.
Yummy grey slaters, and a big brown worm,
Gone so fast, they don't even squirm.
Sun fun, such fun, was it to play,
That before they knew it, it was the end of the day.
