Painful Lullabies

Rain is pattering against my windows,
I watch from my bed;
The dullness slowly possessing me,
Grey surroundings slowly swallow me.
I can't contemplate a life outside my dysfunctional own,
A life in which I am happy;
Where I am free,
Where I am not in chains all the time.
My nightmares are vivid scenes,
They are eternal curses I must go through;
All night they play over and over,
Like a broken record.
I sing my painful lullabies,
Stuffed toys are my audience;
All I ask is to hear a voice other than my own,
For it will fill the emptiness.
