Excellence Award in the 'Top Secret 2016' competition
A rainbow of birds sit high in the canopy,
Squawking and talking for all to see.
Down below in the under story,
Monkeys and leopards are hanging from trees.
The leaves were once wet from the showers at night,
And the flusher pink flowers once shone so bright.
But now bulldozes and tractors are tearing them down,
If the plants had a face they would have a big frown.
But why do they do it? Why do they tear?
To make room for farmland they don’t seem to care.
What about the animals? They’ve all moved away,
Because deforestation through night and day.
All we need is government education,
To teach these people revegetation.
If we don’t do this now we might be too late,
They’re relying on us and they just can’t wait!
