3rd in the 'Calling All Poets 2007' competition
Amidst the waves the black blue sea,
A new door opened up to me.
Nature became one with my soul,
Brought secrets fresh from the South Pole.
Nature sent billows pounding my skin,
The waves licked my feet bringing fears akin.
The horizon gazed across the salt sea,
Beckoning me on to a world to be.
Just one step further and in I would fall,
To a world of love: an ethereal ball.
Nature drew me on top of the rock,
Yet there I stood stiff as a stock.
Retreat was my instinct and turned me around,
My feet bore me away across salty ground.
No more could I fancy myself one with the sea,
The spell was broken, there was only me.
