This is a poem about poems.
What is their purpose?
Why do they exist?
Will they just vanish
Into the mist?
Why do we write them in long flowing script?
Perhaps it’s a yearning
To dodge Death’s cold grip.
So why am I writing one
Right here and now?
I am not striving
For any lit’rary crown.
Poems are nice things.
Maybe that’s how
I like to be writing one
Right here and now.
