BANG! Rachel woke with a start. “What was that?” she thought aloud. BANG! There it was again. Rachel looked at the clock. 3:57. BANG! That’s the third time. Rachel’s curiosity got the better of her and before she realised what she was doing she had her shoes and a jumper on with her phone in her pocket. Rachel tiptoed down to the front door. She slowly opened it and peeked her head out. Outside the night was as black as the devils heart. She couldn’t see a thing. Rachel decided turning on the light was a bad idea. BANG! BANG! Two more. Rachel went further out the door. She still couldn’t see anything. So she went further. She was now at the letter box. Rachel heard a stick snap behind her. She froze. Rachel closed her eyes. ‘This is just like a horror movie’ she thought. Rachel slowly turned around. There were two figures lying on the ground. She tiptoed over to the figures. She kneeled down and felt the bodies for a pulse. Nothing. Rachel heard a gun click. She turned only to be met with a searing pain through her chest. The pain was unbearable. She collapsed to her knees and started sobbing. She looked up to the person standing in front of her. It was a girl. The girl had long blonde hair that was liquid gold in the moonlight. She looked familiar. Rachel squinted trying to remember the face standing before her. Then it clicked. Just like the gun five minutes before. It was Amber. Amber was Rachel’s old babysitter
“Amber?” Rachel’s voice sounded hoarse.
“Rachel?” Amber asked with confusion clear in her voice. “Oh my god” Amber cried. “I just shot a 14 year old girl!” Amber started sobbing.” I’m so sorry Rachel.” Amber hiccupped.
“Well a little help would be much appreciated amber. The pain is a female dog.” Rachel said harshly. Amber flinched at the tone of Rachel’s voice.
“Right. Sorry. But I can’t take you to the hospital. I’ll be arrested for attempted murder, plus the two bodies behind you.” Amber explained calmly.
“Who cares!” Rachel yelled. “I’m 14 years old and I’m lying on the road dying because my old babysitter shot me! Take me to the damn hospital Amber!” Rachel screamed
“For the last time, I can’t!” amber yelled, clearly frustrated.
Rachel couldn’t believe it. Amber had babysat Rachel for five years, and now Rachel was dying In a puddle of her own blood because her childhood babysitter had shot her at 4 in the morning. Rachel felt a plan brewing in her head. She took a deep breath and screamed as loud as a new born baby. Rachel saw her parents’ bedroom light turn on.
“Rachel!” Amber hissed. “Shut up!”
“No amber, IM DYING!” Rachel cried.
Rachel heard her parents open the front door.
“Hello? Who’s out here?” Rachel heard her father ask.
“DAD! HELP ME!” Rachel yelled. Her dad then came running around the corner with his shotgun in hand.
“Amber?” her dad asked in disbelief. He then turned to look at his daughter.” MICHELLE CALL THE AMBULANCE AND THE POLICE!” he screamed to Rachel’s mother. Rachel heard sirens in the distance. She turned to look at amber. She turned pale and turned to run. Rachel grabbed a rock and screamed as a searing pain shot through her chest and up her arm. With the rock in hand she turned back to amber and threw the rock. The rock hit amber right in the back and she tripped and hit her head on the ground knocking her unconscious Rachel saw flashing lights turn the corner, the emergency services were here. Rachel was taken to hospital for the gunshot wound and amber was arrested for the murder of two people and attempted murder of Rachel. Rachel’s experience taught her to not leave her room after dark.
