The darkness crumbles away
Planes cast shadow waves over the land
Strong eyes, weary limbs, folding notes from home
Men who walked like each step was their last
Their fate, soon or late
They cannot choose…

As the sun rises
Gunshots crack into the air
Soldiers flatten in response
Blackness struck many as their bodies hit the dirt
Eyes rolling back
As the darkness crumbles in.
