Last night a strange figure broke into our house,
His name was worry and he pushed us about.
He messed with our heads and he fought with our tears,
I now see what happens when dad has too many beers.
Worry had a twin brother, his name was fear,
Fear taught us that no where was safe, at least nowhere near.
Fear taught us to run and hide under the covers,
And listen to the screams of the misplaced lovers.
With the shouts and the screams of the two we loved most,
Left us under the covers, with two unwanted ghosts.
Worry and fear made us scared even more,
Then when we heard that last large slam of the door.
Then mother came in, and the ghosts flew away,
Though we know they'd be back another day.
I could still feel the chill I'd felt when they were here,
The two ghosts of our nightmares, worry and fear.
