I sniffed you in your basket- Blue,
The smell of love and friendship true.
For you were the one i was waiting for,
A best friend loved forever more.

You calmed me during storms of dread,
and I growled at monsters under your bed.
A soft hand, a stroke, your my happy place,
I basked in your loving embrace.

All animals know when it is their time to go,
Your distress felt when you asked the vet to let me go.
You went from a boy to a man of courage brave,
because of the days of suffering you saved.

Your warm tears trickled down my face,
The rainbow bridge you urged me to embrace.
You faded slowly from my sight,
Until we meet again in heaven's glorious light.
