I am sorry for your suffering, I am sorry for your pain,
I’m sorry that I wasn’t there to chase darkness far away,
I am sorry for your last moments, filled with fear and dread,
I’m sorry for your long blonde hair stained deep and angry red,
I am sorry for your sky blue eyes clenched shut in agony,
I’m sorry that I wasn’t there when you needed me to be.
The body found in darkness, its hand a battered fist,
The dress once white, covers a body that will be sorely missed.
A lily on your casket, jasmine upon your brow,
Tears run down my cheeks as I wonder how, God could this allow.
Your tormentors hide in prison, their hearts a wedge of ice
I’d like to think that you gaze upon the birds of paradise
My love forever with you, your gravestone worn with tears,
May this night and forever more, the Lord relieve your fears.
The world may forget you, but your friends will always know,
An angel lies ‘neath a gravestone worn, below the silver willow.
