Eureka Stockade

Excellence Award in the 'Word Zone 2016' competition

Down south in Ballarat, on my beauty horse I sat
I jumped off to pan for gold, but it was freezing cold

In the distance I saw a man, dressed in red so I ran
But he galloped too fast on his horse nd he put me right off course

So he stopped me and said “Show me your license or your dead!’’
I showed him a fake one, he fell for it, he was dumb

Then there was lots of battling, the trooper’s guns were rattling
Of course they fought back, to keep the gold in their sack

The battle was done, the miners had won
So the celebrations will begin and the license fee is in the bin!
