I was happy once
I remember the days, the warm carefree days
The days when the smell of smoke and the barbecue would fill the air
Where laughter and fun was a constant in the setting sun
When even in the darkest of nights
A fire crackled merrily
But now I'm empty
And the fun and merriment is gone
The air no longer smells of smoke
And the fire no longer crackles
I watch and I wait for them to return
Yet they never did
But one day someone came
Someone new, someone different
But they moved in and lit the fire again
And I am happy once more
