Excellence Award in the 'Word Zone 2016' competition
The country may have no big buildings
The country may have no big things
But it might be a place that is lovely and peaceful
A place with kind and grateful people
It's hot and it's dusty
Your tools get quite rusty
But people from here don't care
'Cos we treat it like our lair
A fresh breeze brushes your hair
As you take a bite from that rich and mellow pear
The birds soar past in the deep blue sky
Reaching the fluffy clouds up high
Grassy green paddocks are jammed with cows and sheep
On an old farm someone is training their horse to leap
If you ever see a koala in a gumtree
Then you know you're in the country
